Sarah Shriver Celtic Knot   One Day Workshop

Build an amazing graphic cane with the illusion of woven lines. Students will receive patterns and step-by-step directions for building a complex “Celtic” knot patterned cane which is designed to interlock and repeat into pattern. From this one cane students will build a series of canes by cutting, reforming, and recombining it, manipulating each piece differently, exploring the possibilities of infinite pattern variation.

Sarah will demonstrate some of the ways to develop and shift your color blending techniques to accomplish various outcomes. For example; blending to give your cane work a “painterly” effect, or to give it graphic texture, or to mimic some other texture like an “ikat” fabric. Seeing colors change through the blending process is a great way to sharpen your knowledge and understanding of color
